Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large cast-iron skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat until bubbly and fragrant.
  3. Add the diced yellow onion to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
  4. Stir in the shredded green cabbage and season with sea salt. Cook for 5-6 minutes until softened.
  5. Add minced garlic into the skillet and sauté for an additional 1 minute.
  6. Incorporate frozen hash browns and 1.5 cups of shredded Irish cheddar, mix well.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden-brown on top.
  8. Remove from the oven, sprinkle remaining cheddar on top, and return for an additional 4-5 minutes until melted.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
