Step-by-Step Instructions for Garlic Mushroom Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve a cup of pasta water, drain, and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Add onions and mushrooms, and sauté for 8-10 minutes until mushrooms are golden brown.
  3. Stir in remaining butter, garlic, and Dijon mustard. Sauté for an additional minute until garlic is fragrant.
  4. Pour in broth and lemon juice/ zest. Increase heat and let bubble for about 1 minute to create a sauce.
  5. Remove from heat. Mix in Parmesan cheese and parsley until the cheese melts. Adjust sauce with reserved pasta water as needed.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately, garnished with parsley and extra Parmesan if desired.
