Cooking Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and reserve a splash of pasta water.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Whisk in flour to create a roux for about 1 minute.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Pour in wine or broth and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Whisk in heavy cream, mustard, and Italian seasoning. Stir until mixture thickens slightly.
- Add chopped tomatoes and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Off the heat, mix in Parmesan cheese and torn basil until cheese melts.
- Toss the drained pasta with the sauce, adding reserved pasta water if needed. Serve immediately.
