Ingredients

For the Casserole
  • 1 pound Italian Ground Sausage Can substitute with turkey sausage for a leaner option.
  • 1 can Canned Grand Biscuits Feel free to use homemade biscuits for an even fresher taste.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Can be swapped with a cheese blend or Monterey Jack for variety.
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Reduce quantity for a lighter finish.
  • 6 large Large Eggs Use nutritional yeast for a vegan alternative.
  • 1 cup Milk Almond milk or a non-dairy alternative works well too.
  • Salt To taste; adjust according to dietary needs.
  • Black Pepper To taste; white pepper can be used for a different flavor twist.

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking pan
  • large sauté pan
  • mixing bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large sauté pan, add the Italian ground sausage over medium heat. Break it into crumbles and cook for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Open the canned Grand biscuits and cut each biscuit into eight equal pieces. Spread them in a single layer across the bottom of your prepared baking pan.
  4. Evenly distribute the cooked sausage over the layer of biscuits in the pan. Then, sprinkle half a cup of both shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the large eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until combined. Pour this mixture evenly over the layered biscuits and sausage.
  6. Top the casserole with the remaining shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake for 25-35 minutes until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it sit for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
