  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 12-inch cast iron skillet with 1 tablespoon of cold butter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together ½ cup of softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture and blend until smooth.
