  • ½ cup distilled white vinegar apple cider vinegar can also serve as a flavorful alternative.
  • ¼ cup soy sauce consider using low-sodium soy sauce to reduce salt intake.
  • ½ yellow onion chopped you can substitute shallots for a milder flavor.
  • 4 cloves garlic if you're in a pinch, garlic powder (about 1 tsp) works too.
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar honey can be used for a different but equally lovely flavor.
  • 2 dry bay leaves dried thyme is a suitable replacement if you don't have bay leaves.
  • ½ tsp ground pepper feel free to adjust to taste or swap in black or white pepper.
For the Wings
  • pounds party wings chicken drumettes can substitute for a different texture.
  • lime juice no substitutions recommended for the best taste.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a food processor, blend ½ yellow onion, ½ cup distilled white vinegar, ¼ cup soy sauce, 4 garlic cloves, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 2 crumbled bay leaves, and ½ tsp ground pepper until smooth.
  2. Add 1½ pounds of party wings to a large Ziploc bag, then pour the freshly blended marinade over them. Seal the bag tightly and refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
  3. Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat thoroughly.
  4. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
  5. Carefully place the marinated wings evenly on the prepared baking sheet and bake them in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the wings from the oven and transfer them to a serving dish. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the wings just before serving.
