  • 1 box (8 oz) Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix Any corn muffin mix can be used.
  • 0.33 cup Milk Any non-dairy milk works.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil Melted butter or another neutral oil works too.
  • 1 large Egg Can substitute with a flaxseed egg for vegan.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Swap in mozzarella or your favorite cheese.

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, brown 1½ pounds of ground beef over medium heat for about 7–10 minutes until fully cooked.
  2. Stir in 1 finely chopped onion and 1 diced green bell pepper to the skillet and sauté for approximately 5 minutes.
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, yellow mustard, ketchup, water, salt, and pepper to the mix and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine 1 Jiffy corn muffin mix, ⅓ cup milk, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, and 1 egg.
  5. In a greased 9x9-inch baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly and pour the cornbread batter over the top.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F and bake for 25 to 35 minutes until the cornbread topping is golden brown.
  7. Allow the casserole to rest for about 5 minutes, then serve warm.
