Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Season the chicken thighs with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, dried oregano, and smoked paprika, adding chili flakes if desired. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add seasoned chicken skin-side down and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Deglaze the pan with a splash of white wine, add chopped onion, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Then add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  4. Stir in chicken broth, heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and turmeric powder. Bring to a gentle simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Return chicken to skillet, cover, and simmer on low for 25 minutes or until cooked through. Add more broth if sauce thickens too much.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with capers and a sprinkle of smoked paprika alongside crusty bread or steamed rice.
