  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar can be omitted
  • 2 cloves garlic smashed
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Cucumber Ingredients
  • 4 pieces Kirby or pickling cucumbers sliced into rounds
Finishing Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine vinegar, water, salt, sugar, smashed garlic cloves, and crushed red pepper flakes. Heat over medium until mixture starts steaming.
  2. Wash and slice cucumbers into thick rounds about ½ inch thick.
  3. Pack cucumber slices into a clean glass jar or plastic container, layering as needed. Pour hot brine over cucumbers until fully submerged.
  4. Sprinkle fresh dill into the jar and stir gently to distribute.
  5. Seal the jar tightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
