Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once shimmering, sauté the diced onion for about 5 minutes until softened and translucent.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and freshly minced ginger. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
  3. Add ground beef and break it up. Cook for approximately 7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. Mix in chopped tomatoes, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, chili powder, and garam masala. Cook for about 5 minutes until tomatoes soften.
  5. Stir in cubed potatoes, salt, and water. Cover and allow flavors to meld as potatoes cook.
  6. Reduce heat to low and let the curry simmer for about 20 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with basmati rice or naan.
