  • 3 cloves Minced Garlic Use garlic powder if needed
  • 1 14 oz can Diced Tomatoes Fresh tomatoes can also work
  • 4 pieces Chipotles in Adobo Plus 2 tbsp sauce, adjust based on spice tolerance
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice Substitute with lemon juice if needed
  • ¾ tsp Salt Adjust according to salt levels of other ingredients
  • 3 large breasts Cooked and Shredded Chicken Approx. 1½-2 lbs, rotisserie works well
  • ½ cup Chicken Broth Use vegetable broth for a vegetarian option
For Toppings (Optional)
  • 1 cup Shredded Lettuce For added crunch
  • ¼ cup Fresh Cilantro Use sparingly if desired
  • 1 cup Fresh Tomatoes Chopped for freshness
  • ½ cup Salsa Green or red varieties
  • ½ cup Sour Cream or Greek Yogurt For creaminess
  • 2 medium Avocados Slice just before serving
  • ½ cup Cotija Cheese Crumble generously over tostadas
  • 1 cup Beans Black beans work well for protein

Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Tostadas de Tinga
  1. Thinly slice the onion and mince the garlic. Heat a skillet over medium heat with oil. Add onions and garlic, stirring for 5-7 minutes until soft.
  2. In a blender, combine chipotles, diced tomatoes, and lime juice. Blend until smooth. Add to the skillet with ¾ tsp salt and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add cooked shredded chicken to the skillet and mix well. Gradually pour in up to ½ cup of chicken broth, stirring until heated through for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Place crispy tostadas on plates and spoon Chicken Tinga mixture over them, allowing it to soak in slightly.
  5. Customize with your favorite toppings, like lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, and avocado, and enjoy!
